From Training Apprentice to 2IC: Imagine’s Institute of Hair Helps Student Achieve Dream

05 April 16

Kristen completed her hairdressing apprenticeship training at Imagine Education's Institute of HairdressingIt was studying her Certificate III in Hairdressing at Imagine Education Australia’s Institute of Hairdressing that helped give Kristen Delfos back her drive and passion to continue with her chosen career in hairdressing.

Kristen left her former salon and training provider as she felt she was not gaining the experience and qualifications she needed to be the hairdresser she wanted to be. So much so, that Kristen was left unsure over whether to continue in the hairdressing industry. As luck would have it, Kristen began working at Amanda’s House of Hair on the Gold Coast, and from here discovered Imagine Education Australia’s Institute of Hairdressing.

It was owner Amanda who recommended Imagine Education as a great place for Kristen to resume her training, something for which Kristen is grateful. “Amanda recommended Imagine Education as she knew how well they train and look after their students. I am so grateful for this because along with Amanda and her salon, I credit Imagine Education and my trainer Tania as the reason I can now call myself a fully-qualified hairdresser. They have helped me to keep my passion for hairdressing and get to where I am today, aiding me in every way they can.”

Kristen says Imagine Education offered a welcoming environment from the first day she attended, and she enjoyed the small, intimate classes. Both theory and practical work were taught during the class days and Kristen says she always felt involved, feeling as though she could ask questions and get the answers she needed whenever she needed them.

“Tania is a great trainer. Although I had some cross credits from my previous college, I completed most of my units with Imagine Education. Tania pushed me to complete everything and learn to the highest standard. She wouldn’t pass me until I got everything right which is great!”

Trainer Tania also praises Kristen as a student, recognising her hard work and dedication to become a confident and successful hairdresser.

“Kristen was a pleasure to teach as she was very keen to develop her skills and become a great hairdresser. The individual training she received from Amanda and myself helped fine-tune her skills and was great for Kristen’s training and development.”

Imagine Education offers a boutique training experience with an emphasis on one-on-one training, which as Tania explains, is great for the individual needs of the student as everyone learns differently. This one-on-one training means our students are trained to the highest standard as they learn in a way that works for them.
This style of training worked for Kristen.

“I am a hands-on learner and Tania always explained things to me in a way I could understand. Because she is very confident, this made me confident in my work too. She has so much experience with hairdressing and teaching and she really knows her stuff!

Thanks to my training from Imagine Education and my time at Amanda’s House of Hair, I am now a senior hairdresser and 2IC here. My duties include managing the salon and helping the school-based apprentice (who is also training with Imagine) through her apprenticeship. It's a role that I really enjoy. I plan to stay with Amanda for as long as possible. I really love my job and the people I work with. One day when the time comes, I would love to have a small business of my own and hopefully help others complete their apprenticeships and have the same experience I have had completing mine. I cannot thank Tania and Imagine Education enough for training me to become the hairdresser I have always wanted to be.”‬‬

Imagine Education offers students our Certificate III in Hairdressing course. The Certificate III in Hairdressing qualification has been designed as the standard entry-level qualification for the hairdressing industry. The Certificate III in Hairdressing qualification incorporates a practical, hands-on approach to learning with students gaining experience in our affiliated hairdressing salon, Aqua Body & Soul Labrador.
